Raisin Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter
1 heaping cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup raisins
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and salt. Fold in flour, soda and cream of tartar. Add raisins. Roll dough, cut and dip tops in sugar. Bake in 400°F oven until golden.
Spider Cookies
2 Tbsp cocoa
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup coconut
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
Heat first 5 ingredients in pot till melted, remove from heat. Add last 2 ingredients. Mix well. Drop by teaspoon on waxed paper. Refrigerate till firm.
Cottage Pudding
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp salt
4 Tbsp butter
2 tsp vanilla
4 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups raisins
2 cups brown sugar
2 Tbsp butter
1/4 tsp nutmeg
5 cups boiling water
Mix batter in usual manner. Put batter in a greased 9×13 inch pan. Make sauce by combining brown sugar, butter and nutmeg in a deep bowl. Add boiling water and stir. Pour sauce over batter. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until golden brown. As this pudding bakes the batter rises to the top and sauce stays on the bottom.
Cheese Cake
2 cups graham wafer crumbs
1/2 cup melted butter
1/4 cup white sugar
8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
1 pkg Dream Whip
1 can cherry or strawberry pie filling
Mix first 3 ingredients together. Press into bottom of square pan. Combine cream cheese and white sugar. Mix Dream Whip according to package directions. Fold cheese mixture and Dream Whip together. Spread over base. Top with pie filling. Refrigerate overnight.
